What is foster caring?

Being a specialist foster carer for Fostering People here in South East England - we hope that some of the information provided answers some of your questions about fostering and helps you decide about joining our team. There is no doubt that fostering a child or young person can be a challenging task, but it can be very rewarding. You will also be a valued member of a team and that means good consistent support, preparatory and ongoing training and easy access to expert advice and help. If you can provide a safe, secure and supportive family home environment, then you could be just the person we are looking for!

Why do children and young people need foster homes?

Children need foster families for a variety of reasons. The main reason children need to be looked after is that their parents are not able to care for them in a safe and consistent way. They may have been neglected or physically abused, or their parents may have had chaotic lifestyles involving drug and alcohol addiction or mental illness.
